I have been to many service stations and garages and I have never met a nicer or more honest person than Jim. He is the owner and operator of this gas station/ mechanical repair shop. In this day and age where there are alot of shops trying to make top dollar, Jim brings a sense of reliability and trustworthiness. I have been going here for years and never leave feeling I paid too much. Jim does the work as estimated and the quality is great. If you need your car repaired go to Jim for your first opinion, my bet is you will be back.

Very good guy, Jim the mechanic! His assistant quoted me a price for working on my front breaks, later another person was reluctant to honor that price but Jim himself did honor it, good deal. I told him about his good reputation on YELP which he was not aware of… the work didn’t take too long… you can also get cheapest gas for miles around right here.

It’s been tough finding a good mechanic in the Excelsior. That is until my wife got a tip from a co-worker about Best Auto Care. Jim is an excellent mechanic and he is really nice to his customers. Let me give you an example from today. While driving our car, the oil pressure light came on with a scary message that flashed STOP. We got it towed to best. Jim put some oil in and it worked. Many mechanics would call it a day at this point… dummies didn’t keep their oil up… Jim took the time to take the care on the freeway and found the problem reoccurred. He then figure out the oil pump had gone bad. Bad news that’s like a nearly $600 repair. We get the news and are bummed… well 2 minutes later he calls back says, “Hey this is still covered under your warranty, you’ve got 50 mile left on it before it goes out of warranty, take it to the dealer.” What did he charge me for all this work? Nothing. I mean we are regulars and all, but this is just one story among many….

Jim was a great help. He was completely honest and gave me a great price for some brake work. Even though he was really busy, Jim finished my car in less than a day. I would definitely recommend to anyone. I know I’ll be back.

This service station gets 5 stars because owner Jim did an outstanding job of helping me some time ago, when my car simply died near Ocean Ave. really late one night. The car was blocking a lane of the street but nobody would stop to help me, they all drove around. The road had a slight incline so it was very difficult to push the car on my own, without it sliding back. Luckily a friend of my father drove by, saw me and came with his son to help me push the car to the side of the road. Well, to make the story short. Jim came to the rescue, arranged for a tow truck to bring the car to the station that also drove me home. That’s excellent service! The car was fixed a day later.

This place is very deceiving. From the outside it looks like a run down gas station. However, the owner/manager Jim and his team are extremely competent mechanics. I’ve had a few repairs done to my cars here and the quality of work for the amount you pay is pretty incredible. They regularly go out of their way for their customers and best of all… they’re honest.

Fast and professional, not much space to pull into the service area but that’s a good sign I suppose. Went for a smog check and the price is very competitive without any need for a coupon.
